I strongly believe that we are approaching a "multi-death" of enterprises.
One of the most well-known stories is about Kodak, a company that dominated the photography market. They made the wrong strategic decision by not believing in digital cameras. We all know how that ended.
In my experience working with enterprises, I often hear how IT security departments to have a too careful approach, resulting in slow utilisation of new and innovative technology.
As a shareholder and investor, I expect management to explore, iterate, improve, be curious, renew, and innovate. If they don't, someone else will. And they will become another Kodak story, which is taught in the business schools.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella predicts an increase in global GDP by $7T-10T and an increased partner opportunity by $2T-2.5T because of what is now unfolding with AI.
Therefore, I propose a proven method: Establish an X Center of Excellence that directly reports to either the CTO or CEO and has a mission to explore values and opportunities for the entire organization. XCoE members should come from across the organization, with a desire for innovation, curiosity, and a solution-oriented mindset that goes beyond one's CV or job title. This will connect or adapt to internal business value.
In investment analysis, the term "Asymmetric Opportunity" is used.
What is Asymmetric Opportunity?Asymmetric Opportunity refers to a situation where the potential upside (profit) of an investment or business decision significantly outweighs the potential downside (loss). In other words, it's about taking calculated risks with the potential for high rewards while keeping the risk of loss relatively low.
Invest in a few Apple Vision Pros, experiment, learn, and iterate. Put the technology in the hands of manufacturing personnel; you will be amazed at what curious humans can and will do if given the opportunity. AI & Apple Vision Pro, it can be an Asymmetric Opportunity.
What is unfolding before our eyes is a shift for humanity that is more significant than anything we have ever seen before. Its implications can be challenging to grasp. Let me give you a few examples of where AI will take over or become a significant integration:
I believe that the consequences will be even more challenging to predict:
With a bit of imagination, we can get carried away by the implications AI and machines will bring to our lives.
I recommend watching a few movies that would broaden your horizons:
But will AI have a gut feeling/intuition? :-)
I highly recommend watching the Ted Talk from James Skinner, which takes only 20 minutes.
